San Juan Island Whale Watching Adventure
Whale Watching from San Juan Island
See Wild Whales! Your guides are known for providing high quality, small group whale watching & wildlife tours from San Juan Island, just 80 miles north of Seattle.
San Juan Island is considered the best place to view Orca whales because salmon, the Orcas' prime source of food, travel up and down the west coast of the island.
The boat is a new, fast 55-foot vessel with a large windowed cabin - warm and comfortable with a walk-around deck. Its faster speed gives greater range and more whale sightings. The success rate for whale sightings is over 95%.
Enjoy the thrill of seeing one of the most impressive animals on the planet - the orca whale. Educational...serious fun...limited space...so reserve your adventure now!
There are no refunds. All sales are final.

Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. See wild Orca whales in their natural environment. More than 80 whales are resident to this area. Enjoy watching them feed, rest and play in the calm waters around the San Juan Islands, where they return every April through October. See bald eagles, great blue heron, dalls porpoise and harbor seals. 40 or fewer guests means you get plenty of personalized attention from the professional naturalists aboard. This ratio gives you an opportunity to converse on a one-to-one basis with your naturalist and captain. The MV Sea Lion is new, fast, warm and comfortable - and built specifically for wildlife viewing with walk-around decks, bow, cabin and stern seating; roomy bathroom, too. Sightings are over 95%. Your engaging naturalist crew is known for respectful wildlife viewing.
What do we bring on the cruise?
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the vessel accommodate a person in a wheelchair? -- If the person can safely stand and walk up two steps on the outside of the boat, then one on the inside, every effort will be made to board them. Wheelchairs cannot be placed on the boat due to safety considerations. Please advise at the time of booking if anyone in your party has special needs so that arrangements can be made to pre-board.
What are we likely to see besides Whales? -- These well-seasoned Captains can usually find one or more of the resident J, K and L pods (pods are whale family groups). There are almost always some Harbor Seals about and usually River Otter, Wild Mink, Dall's Porpoise, Harbor Porpoise and occasionally transient Orca Whales, Minke Whales, Gray Whales, Humpback Whale, Sea Lion and Pacific White Sided Dolphin.
What else is there to see on the trip? -- There are many varieties of birds. On any given trip, you will most likely see Double-Crested Cormorant, Pelagic Cormorant, Brandts Cormorant, Great Blue Heron, Bald Eagle, Black Oystercatcher, Glaucous-Winged Gull, Common Murre, Pigeon Guillemot, Rhinoceros Auklet and Belted Kingfisher. The San Juan Islands boast of over 250 bird species!
Where do we go to see whales? -- Wherever the whales are. Sometimes that might be west towards Canada, or down to the very south end of San Juan Island, or to the north near the Fraser River - and occasionally the Orca are not around San Juan Island, but you can depend on this: they go wherever they want to go. They can easily cover 100 miles in a day and swim up to 30 mph.
