FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How much food is served on the tours?
Currently, our tour includes 8-9 tasting stops. The amount of food tasted on the tour is equivalent to a light lunch.

Are there any beverages served on the tours?
Yes! We sample coffee and tea on the Pike Place Market Tour. However, we also recommend bringing a reusable water bottle for the tour, as you will be walking and eating for two to three hours. If you are unable to bring a water bottle, water is available for purchase at the starting location of the tour. Please arrive early to provide enough time to purchase water should you choose to do so.

Should I eat anything before coming on the tour?
We recommend that you eat a light breakfast before joining us for the tour. The amount of food tasted on the tour is equivalent to a light lunch.

Are there vegetarian options?
Yes! If we know in advance, we will do our best to make appropriate substitutions for you.

DIETARY RESTRICTIONS: Please be sure and let us know at the time of booking if you (or anyone in your group) has a dietary restriction (e.g. vegetarian, nut allergy, etc.). We will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Are there kosher options?
The majority of the food tastings are not guaranteed kosher.

Do we only walk around and sample food?
Absolutely not! You will not only taste locally made foods and beverages that will awaken your palate, but you will also learn about and meet the storied characters and vendors that give the market life, and learn about the market's rich and vibrant history. We'll also share some spots that even locals overlook! By the end of the tour, you will not only have eaten an array of deliciously famous foods, but you will also have picked up a few buying tips, cooking ideas, and handy market knowledge.

What about baby strollers or assistance for handicapped persons?
No, unfortunately we are not allowed to have baby strollers or wheelchairs on our tours, due to the crowds and tight spaces in the Market and the food establishments we visit. Some of the artisans and businesses we visit are very small, crowded, and not wheelchair or stroller accessible in a tour group of up to 16 guests.

Can children take this tour?
Children are welcome on the tour. Some children have a limited attention span and therefore a 2-hour tour may not be appropriate for them. Parents know their children best and should assess the situation individually. Since there is a lot of standing, walking, and market congestion, please consider this when deciding whether the tours are appropriate for your child.

Can I bring my dog?
Pets of any kind are not allowed on the tours, due to the various food establishments we visit.

How physically demanding is this tour?
The tours are generally appropriate for all ages and fitness levels, but please use your best judgment for your own situation or those in your party. The tours require a certain level of physical stamina. We are on our feet for approximately 2 hours. Be prepared to walk 25 feet up a steep incline. Tastings are on the go and seating opportunities are limited and sporadic.

Do the tours have anything to offer a native Seattleite?
Definitely! Many of our attendees live right here in Seattle. Locals often join us to learn about the great food finds in the "Heart and Soul of Seattle" that have been under their noses the entire time! Pike Place Market is also brimming with lively tales and history that may surprise you! This tour is a fantastic way to rediscover an iconic landmark in your own home town.

If it rains, what do we do?
The tours are held rain or shine. About half of the tour is conducted under cover and half is in open-air. You should dress appropriately for the day's weather conditions and bring an umbrella if necessary.

Can we stop to do some shopping during the tour if we find something we want to buy?
We ask that you please wait to shop until after the tour so that we can stay on schedule and continue with the informative tour and food tastings in a timely manner. Allow time at the end of the tour to return to your favorite stores and vendors to take advantage of our exclusive "Repeat Visitor" discount card, only available to our tour participants!

Where do we park?
There are many parking facilities around Pike Place Market, which is near the meeting point, including covered parking available at the Public Market Parking Garage at 1531 Western Avenue.

What about comfort stops if we need one?
Restrooms are available throughout the Market. However, we strongly recommend that you use the restroom before meeting up for the tour, so that we can stay on schedule and maximize our tastings!

Do we need to tip our guide?
Gratuities are greatly appreciated, although not mandatory. The standard gratuity in the service industry is 15%.

May we bring a camera or camcorder?
We strongly encourage participants to bring their cameras to take photos during the tour. However, we do not allow video camcorders or audio tape recorders.
