Methow River Whitewater Rafting Trip in Pateros Washington

Feel the rush of the whitewater on the Methow River

Feel the rush of the whitewater on the Methow River

The Methow offers some excellent scenery of the Okanagan Territory, and is known for its hot weather. Most importantly, it contains one of the best stretches of whitewater in the entire state. This adventure is recommended to be enjoyed by new and veteran paddlers alike who need to quench their whitewater appetite. This is a great river for kids (12 and up) and first-time paddlers.

During this white water adventure you will pass through rapids like Road Side Attraction, Eliminator, and Green Bridge Rapids. Those are only a warm up for what lies ahead! Before you know it you can hear the rush of Black Canyon as you round the bend into this class IV rapid. You will have a moment to celebrate conquering the Canyon before you realize you're about to take on the river wide rapid Staircase! Near the town of Pateros, Lake Chelan, Omak, Twisp, and Winthrop, the Methow is the perfect river if you are driving the Cascade loop.

Guides, instruction, rafts, equipment, wetsuits, shuttle transportation from the check-in location to the rafting put-in, and riverside lunch buffet are all included. Lunch will include chicken and steak, served with four bean salad, green salad, and fresh cut watermelon.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I have to be able to swim?
No, everyone wears a Coast Guard approved life jacket. So even in the unlikely event that you take an unscheduled dip in the river, you'll float for a few seconds until you are assisted back onto the raft.

What equipment is provided?
All of the gear and equipment you will need will be provided. Each guest is issued a life jacket, paddle, wetsuit and a pair of booties for the trip. If needed, a helmet is both required and provided to everyone on the trip.

What size wetsuits do you have?
Small, child suit sizes all the way up to 5XL grizzly suits are provided. So, no matter what size you are, there is probably a suit to fit you. Also, with 15 sizes of booties, there is sure to be one that will fit you.

What do I have to bring?
You are advised to bring such things as a towel, a swimsuit or two, an extra t-shirt, an extra fleece top, some sunscreen, sunglasses and some water.

Is rafting dangerous?
Exciting is a far better description. All adventure sports have an element of risk, which is what makes them exciting. Rafting with professionals, using commercial quality equipment and trained river guides reduces the risks to a minimum.

Are you prepared for an emergency?
All of the rafting guides are certified for Class lV and class V rivers. In the event of dire emergencies, arrangements can be made to evacuate sick or injured persons at their own expense. Staff members are stressed to prepare for emergencies and in-house training is provided for such emergencies. In addition the extra steps are taken to make sure everyone is prepared for emergencies by such simple things as carrying extra emergency gear on the river.

What about children?
This trip has a minimum age of 12 provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Can young adults go alone?
Yes, if they are 16-18 and the "assumption of risk waiver" is signed by a parent or guardian prior to the trip.

What about food?
A hearty lunch is served on all trips unless other arrangements have been made. All meals are prepared for you by a professional catering company and served to you fresh and ready to eat. If you don't eat meat you can be accommodated as well.

Enjoy the Ride? Tip Your Guide!
Many guests ask if they should tip their guide. You should not feel pressured or obligated to give a gratuity, although gratuities are gladly accepted for exceptional guiding. Gratuities have come in the form of beer, pie, and cash between 10-20% like you would tip at a restaurant.
